What
I do…
I help people collaborate, using their skills, towards more creative
outcomes.
Most of my work has been involved in helping people learn and change
in ways they want. Increasingly, I spend my time helping people
work on challenges that are non-routine for the organisation - where
the outcome is unclear and a measure of creative thinking is needed.
These situations often elicit both excitement and anxiety. The temptation
is to revert to habitual practices. I help people explore creative
possibilities for longer.
I also have an enduring interest in helping people puzzle out what
they want to change, and then to do it! Why do some people’s
efforts to change ‘stick’, but others’ not? Fascinating…
What I bring…
Is a view that off-the shelf solutions are fine for off-the-shelf
problems, but not for most business challenges. Local solutions
need to be co-created by people to suit their context.
Tools and techniques have a place, especially at the diagnostic
stage, and I have an enduring interest in maintaining a bridge between
leading-edge ideas and research from academia, and their pragmatic
application. (See the free subscription
offer above right.)
People have said that my approach is reflective, thoughtful and
fun.
